Parkland High School siblings Collin and Kyleigh Duff, LEO Club member Ishita Nar and school staff members presented a check for $20,000 to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Parkland Fla. to help with recovery efforts following February’s shooting which took 17 lives.
Dan Duff, cousin to Collin and Kyleigh, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, survived the onslaught. He and friend Ryan Servaites accepted the check via Skype on June 22.
The money was raised from sales of wrist bracelets with the logo “Parkland for Parkland” and the Parkland High School Leo club’s annual duck race in the Jordan Creek.
The local Duffs came up with the idea to sell the bracelets to help defer costs for the victims of the shooting.
