Golfers support Boys & Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem’s 39th annual golf tournament was held June 11 at the Steel Club, formally Silver Creek Country Club, with 80 golfers supporting the fundraiser.

The club’s chief executive officer, Gary Martell, said that money raised by the tournament supports programming such as Project Learn, Gang Prevention, Smart Moves, and Triple Play, each designed to encourage getting an education, staying out of gangs, drug and alcohol prevention, and a healthy respectful lifestyle for club members.

Golfer Franklin Green said, “What they do for the local kids who don’t have a place to go is fabulous.”

Participants enjoyed a luncheon prior to their round of golf and dinner afterward.

Golfers Chip Walakavits, Ray Gencarelli and Buddy Weber sign in for the tournament at the registration table.
