Northampton Area Public Library: Teen programs start July 9

Northampton Area Public Library is hosting the summer learning program titled “Libraries Rock.”

The teenage events are for those in grades 6-12 and are held 2 p.m. Mondays.

The different programs are:

• July 9: do-it-yourself guitar picks

• July 16: sheet music art

• July 23: “Name That Tune”

• July 30: upcycled music box

• Aug. 6: sound wave string art

• Aug. 13: Guitar Hero tournament

The library is offering children’s programs as well.

Munchkin Music is scheduled for July 17. Deb Krall will treat the children to music, movement and fun.

A Mario Kart racing event will be July 24 for students completing second through fifth grade.

Both programs are held 11 a.m.

The library’s adult programs are as follows:

• July 18: Music Rocks, 6:30 p.m. Learn how music therapy can help improve overall health and wellness. This program is appropriate for all ages.

• July 25: Adult escape room, 6:30 p.m. Find clues, solve the puzzles and escape this 1980s-themed room.

• July 27: Board game battle royale, 6:30 p.m. Battle through five rounds of nonstop board games to win the most points and survive the ultimate faceoff. Teams are made up of two people. This program is for adults 18 years and older.

• Aug. 1: Meet the author, 6 p.m. Janice Monahan Rodgers will discuss her books “Letters to My Sister” and “Letters to My Sister, Volume 2: Chew Street and Beyond.” They are comprised of short stories about growing up in Allentown during the postwar years of the 1940s and ’50s.

• Aug. 24: Harry Potter trivia, 6:30 p.m. There will be new questions, prizes and snacks. Teams are up to four people. This program is for adults 18 years and older.

Summer learning programs and Summer Quest (formerly the summer reading program) sign-ups are still available.

Teen and adult sign-ups for summer programs and summer reading are also available.

The summer book sale is July 18-21.

Children, teen and adult books, as well as DVDs and CDs, will be on sale. There will also be a bag sale.
