In Lehigh Valley’s third game on its second day in the Carpenter Cup Softball Classic last Wednesday at FDR Park in Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley had its biggest victory with an 11-0 win over Inter-AC/Bal.
Perhaps it was the momentum Lehigh Valley was gaining after winning the first two games of the day, or the bonding that was solidifying by the time the third game rolled around that led to the shutout.
“It happened fast, probably between the first two games [on Monday],” said Lehigh Valley coach Blake Morgan. “They started to talk more and bond.”
The game against Inter-AC/Bal ended in mercy rule after five innings.
Hannah Palinkas (Emmaus) and Emily Silberman (Salisbury) pitched for Lehigh Valley.
Silberman also had a double that scored three runs.
Lehigh Valley scored seven runs in the second inning, one run in the fourth inning, and three runs in the fifth.
Hannah Boggs (Northampton) and Abbey Sechler (Parkland) had two hits apiece against Inter-AC/Bal, who only had four hits in total.
