Edward S. Allwine Jr., 88, of Schnecksville, died June 20, 2018, in Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Tamaqua.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Fox) Allwine.

Born July 5, 1929, in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward S. Sr. and Emily G. (Grimes) Allwine.

He was a supervisor at the former Western Electric, Allentown, for 38 years before retiring in 1988.

As a young adult, he was a smoke jumper for the National Forestry Service in Idaho for several months.

For 12 years, he served as a Naval Reservist, and was a licensed private pilot.

He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, where he formerly served on the consistory.

His survivors include children Edward S. III of Pennsburg, Walter S. of New York City, Valerie E. of Schnecksville; and grandson Spencer L.

He was predeceased by son, Bryon S.
