Donald O. Lichtenwalner
Donald O. Lichtenwalner, 91, of Schnecksville, died June 22, 2018, in Arden Courts of Allentown.
He was the husband of the late Ruth K. (Burcaw) Lichtenwalner.
Born Oct. 5, 1926, in Breinigsville, he was the son of the late Oscar and Lillian (Moyer) Lichtenwalner.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II with the rank of private first class.
He was employed at Mack Trucks Inc., Allentown, for 24 years before retiring in 1988.
Before that, he was a certified mechanic at the former Smith and Peifley, Allentown, for 23 years after graduating from Briggs and Stratton Small Engine School.
He was proud to build a quarter midget car for his daughter, Linda, who won numerous races at local tracks.
A member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, he was a former caretaker of Union Church Cemetery, Neffs, for seven years.
Having a love of the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and maintained his property in a meticulous manner.
He loved all his pets.
In addition to his daughter, Linda Lee Trella and her husband, Thomas, of Slatington, he is survived by a brother Charles D. Lichtenwalner of Alburtis; beautiful granddaughter Holly Trella Bennett and her husband, Rob, of Nazareth; wonderful great-grandchildren Sydney Ruth, Nicholas Thomas and Delaney Mary; special niece Kathy Gross and her fiancé, Jay; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Merkel.
