Hazel A. (Klein) Major, 77, of Macungie, formerly of New Tripoli, died June 9, 2018, at Heather Glen Senior Living, Allentown. She was the wife of W. Anthony Major to whom she was married for 55 years. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Virginia M. (Sherrow) Klein.

She was a graduate of Bowling Green University with a bachelor’s degree in education, Class of 1963, and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority Alumni Association.

She was employed as a substitute teacher in the Northwestern Lehigh School District for 28 years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield and a volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital for many years.

She is survived by her husband; children, W. Anthony Jr. and his wife, Janine, of Thoreau, N.M., Scott A., of Hometown, Donna M. and her husband, William Edmonds, of Edinboro, Douglas M., of West Hazleton, Rebecca A. and her husband, Jacob Weaver, of North Wales; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. June 25 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield. Family and friends may pay their respects 10 to 11 a.m. June 25 in the church. Arrangements were made by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Schnecksville.
