William K. Strohl

William K. Stroh, 83, of Emmaus, died peacefully May 19, 2018, with family by his side. He was the husband of the late Marguerite Kompass Strohl. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Victor Strohl and Alice (Lapp) Strohl Thomas, and stepson of the late Robert Thomas.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Moravian College and a master’s degree in education with a specialization in counseling from Lehigh University.

He was a longtime guidance counselor in the Parkland School District for almost three decades before retiring. He served as president and board member for several professional organizations, including the Parkland Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

He had numerous loves and interest, including classical music, history, photography and antiquing.

He was a prominent baritone soloist in the Lehigh Valley for many years, including with the Bethlehem Bach Choir, the Muhlenberg Opera Company and Keneseth Israel in Allentown.

He was a member of the local chapter of the Civil War Roundtable.

He is survived by a son Erik, of Cooperstown, N.Y.; daughters Suzanne Kompass and her husband Sean O’Boyle A.M., of Brisbane Australia and Lynn Kompass and her husband Phillip Bush, of Columbia, S.C.; grandson Spencer Bush. He was predeceased by a son Scott, a brother Edwin and a sister Beatrice Eckert.

Services will be held 11 a.m. May 24 at the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown. Calling will begin 9:30 a.m.
