Pates Marshburn takes fourth

Freedom senior Kyree Marshburn was a fourth place medalist at the East Penn Conference Track and Field Championships held last Tuesday and Wednesday at Whitehall High School.

Marshburn medaled in the 400 with a time of 51.71.

“This is a really competitive league so getting any kind of medal, any kind of recognition, you can only be happy,” Marshburn said. “My coach told me he wanted me to get to the first 200 meter mark with a high 22, low 23. I guess 250 meters in, 300 meters in, I just hit that wall, and when you hit that wall, it’s hard to fight through that.”

Marshburn was also part of the 4x4 relay team that placed fifth with a time of 3:31.54.

Freedom distance runner Lauren Charboneau placed fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:42.32.

Other Patriots in the top 15 last week were Katie McNulty, who was sixth in the discus, and Xavier Smith, who was sixth in both the triple jump and the long jump.

Elena Spengler placed ninth in the pole vault, and Vincent Reph placed ninth in the javelin.

Marshburn was 11th in the 100 meter dash, Alex Reji was 11th in the high jump, and Maizy Yasso placed 13th in the long jump.
