Zachary J. Houlik
Zachary J. Houlik, 22, formerly of Breinigsville, died suddenly May 4, 2018, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Franklin County, Va.
He is the son of Wendy J. (Hoppes) Houlik with Joseph Szakal of Whitehall, and James M. and Jean (Yingling) Houlik of Mechanicsburg.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, he was a 2013 graduate of Parkland High School.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Lees-McRae College in 2016 and his Master’s degree from Appalachian State University in 2017.
He was a purchasing planner for Gilbarco Veeder-Root of Greensboro, N.C., where he resided.
Cycling was a major part of his life. He was a member of the award winning Young Medalists Elite Junior Cycling Team, and enjoyed competing at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, Trexlertown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Chaz Houlik of Whitehall; grandmothers Ejaye Hoppes and Mary Houlik; stepgrandparents Charles and Erma Yingling; stepsisters Tara Percinsky and niece Vaeda, Katelyn Massie and husband, Justin, and nephew Bowen; godparents Byron and Mitzi Lee and cousins Kyle and Tanner; and godfather John Houlik, and Kathleen Houlik and cousin Elisabeth Fretz.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. May 12 at Randall’s on the Orchard, 2016 Applewood Drive, Orefield, with the Rev. Dr. Becky J. Beckwith officiating. His family will receive guests at a reception immediately following the Celebration.
