Lawrence P. Beauchner
Lawrence P. Beauchner, 54, of Emmaus, died May 2, 2018. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frank R. and Helen K. (Kleinsorge) Beauchner.
He was an artist by trade and over his lifetime worked in various fields of art. He won several prestigious awards including being accepted in the Governors Art Scholarship program at Bucknell University and the Tyler Sculpture Award.
He attended Rhode Island School of Design and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University Tyler School of Art.
After graduating, he moved to Arizona where he worked at Desert Crucible Foundry in Tucson creating molds and bronze castings of wildlife sculptures. He worked in research and development at Tyco Toys, Philadelphia, designing and prototyping new toys.
He was an assistant professor at Cedar Crest College, Allentown. While there he designed and installed a foundry for a new bronze casting curriculum. During that time he also designed and fabricated full-size fiberglass replicas of prehistoric shark jaws that were placed in many prominent historical museums throughout the country.
His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, his dog Dylan and producing art.
He is survived by brothers, Frank R., of Wescosville and James A. and his wife Jean, of Allentown; sisters, Kathleen and her husband Kevin Malek, of Macungie and Joan M. and her husband Howard Gross, of Durham, N.H.; many nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
A memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. May 11 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. A calling hour will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. May 11 n the church.
