Mary James Wagner, 86, of Lower Milford Township, died April 13, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Quakertown. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Wagner.

For numerous years she served as the Bethlehem police reporter for the former Bethlehem Globe-Times. An award winning journalist, she held several excellence in journalism awards from The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association. She was an outstanding mentor to young reporters who held her in high esteem. She was instrumental in the launch of The Valley Voice, Saucon Valley’s newspaper, where she served as editor.

Many years ago, she and several friends started the Lower Milford Township library. She also volunteered and served as a steward for the Lower Milford Township Volunteer Fire Company.

She is survived by a son, Richard.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. May 12 at St. Paul’s Blue Church cemetery, Coopersburg. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
