Donald Jaffe, 86, of Emmaus, died at home April 18, 2018. He was the husband of the late Carol J. (Rodgers) Jaffe who died Aug. 9, 2013. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Paul and Frieda (Schall) Jaffe.
He was a graduate of MIT earning his bachelor of science degree in 1952 and a master’s in 1953 and later received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1963.
He was a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was an engineering manager for Bell Laboratories for many years until his retirement.
He was active in the community as a former member of the Emmaus Rotary Club, treasurer of the Emmaus Shelter House and volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was also a former board member of the Emmaus Board of Health and the East Penn School Board.
He is survived by children, Nancy and her husband, Chris McCarthy, Rodger, Jannah, Richard and his wife, Rebecca and Atty. Robert and his wife Catherine Lazarus; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Julian.
Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
