John Cargill Robertson
John Cargill Robertson, 60, of Albany Township, died suddenly in the Emergency Department of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, after being stricken while volunteering with the Kempton Historical Society.
A loving father, son and brother, he valued his family and brought passion to all of his endeavors.
Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he was a son of Susan (Ryan) Robertson, Kempton, and the late Chester J. Robertson Jr.
A member of Kempton New Church, Kempton, where he was former treasurer, he was currently serving as treasurer of the Old School Village project.
A 1979 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Allentown, he was employed more than 35 years with Unisys, headquartered in Blue Bell, Montgomery County, last serving as accounting/financial manager until his retirement in 2015.
A clarinetist, he was a member of the Pioneer, Macungie, Sanibel Island, Fort Myers, Antebellum Marine bands, and Recordante Recorder Group.
He was the historian for Albany Township Historical Society.
His survivors include a son, Alexander R. Robertson, fiance of Alessandra O. Karpowicz of Philadelphia; brothers Douglas A., husband of Zanna A. (Alden) Robertson, and James M., husband of Cheryl L. (Angstadt) Robertson, all of Kempton; his former wife, Rebecca S. “Becky” Robertson of Allentown; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He and his family graciously gave the gift of life by consenting to organ and tissue donation following his death in hopes something positive may come from his sudden passing.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place 11 a.m. April 21 at Kempton New Church, 583 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, with the Reverend Brett D. Buick officiating. There will be visitation for relatives and friends in the church from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Inurnment in Kempton New Church Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
