Richard U. Altemos
Richard U. Altemos, 77, of Orefield, died Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He and his wife Beverly A. (Grammes) Altemos were married 53 years last June 27.
Born Oct. 18, 1940, in Spinnerstown, Bucks County, he was the son of the late Ulysses Charles and Hulda Mae (Brey) Altemos.
A 1958 graduate of Parkland High School, he faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during a peacetime era.
A member of Le-Hampton Lodge 35, FOP, he was a police and juvenile officer for South Whitehall Township for 29 years before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of UCC Greenawalds.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed trap shooting, camping, hunting and riding motorcycle.
He was a member of the Blue Knight’s Motorcycle Club, Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, Kempton Rod and Gun Club and Cetronia Fire Company.
An expert marksman, he was a member of the Police Olympics Shooting Team, Lehigh Valley Trap Shooting League, North End, Rural, Pioneer and Suburban Leagues.
He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father and grandfather.
He cared about everyone especially his family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters Debra A. Soltis and her husband, James, of Allentown, Lori A. Dreisbach and her husband, Dean, of Orefield; brother Larry M. and his wife, Sue, of Lititz; grandchildren Derek Soltis, and Alyssa Soltis and her boyfriend, Matt Carter.
Family and friends may pay their respects 2-4 p.m. April 5 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
