Allen S. Zimmerman
Allen S. Zimmerman, 93, of Cetronia, died March 27, 2018, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall Township.
He was the husband of the late June M. (Kemmerer) Zimmerman.
Born March 22, 1925, in Lansford, Carbon County, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Daisy E. (Smith) Zimmerman.
Having earned a Master’s degree in vocational education from Temple University, Philadelphia, he was a teacher and electronics instructor at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Schnecksville, for 22 years before retiring in 1985.
Before that, he taught at North Montco Tech Career Center, Lansdale, for two years.
Active in the life of his community and church, he was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Cedar Union Church, Cetronia, a life member of the Lehigh Valley Amateur Radio Club, and Cetronia Fire Company, where he formerly served with the fire police.
He served two terms on the South Whitehall Township board of commissioners and was recently made a director emeritus of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society.
A 32nd Degree Mason, he was past master of Lehigh Lodge 326, F.&A.M., Trexlertown, and held memberships in Rajah Shrine, Reading; High Twelve Club, Allentown; Lehigh Consistory Valley of Allentown; and Lehigh Shrine Club, Allentown.
His survivors include a daughter Jeanne Z. Haddock and her husband, Richard, of Elverson; daughter-in-Law, Judy E. Zimmerman of Whitehall; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Scott A. Zimmerman; sisters Harriet Z. Bachman and Mary Z. Cesanek; and brother Nathan.
His memorial service will be 11 a.m. April 7, at Cedar Union Church, 3419 Broadway, Cetronia. There will be no calling hours.
