Business owner requests assistance
Blaine Phillips, who owns the pet supply outlet on the corner of Silver Crest Road and Route 512, asked township officials for some assistance during the East Allen Township Board of Supervisors meeting March 14.
The three issues that were at the top of the list included stormwater, sewer extension and easements.
Phillips noted that since the intersection at Silver Crest Road was improved, his problems with stormwater have increased. The building across the intersection, occupied by St. Luke’s, has a detention pond designed to accommodate stormwater runoff. Phillips suggested a review of how the area contains stormwater.
Phillips asked the township to consider reviewing ownership on easements requested by the township. He contends his staff is required to maintain the property, and the easements should be returned to his control.
The last request was to extend public sewer to his property. Extending the sewer is a decision that needs to be coordinated with Bath Borough, which manages the treatment plant. Phillips indicated that he plans to consolidate various parcels into one. He was reluctant to pay the full cost to extend the sewer. Supervisor Georgiann Hunsicker asked how the improvement would benefit residents of the township. Phillips indicated there are other property owners along Route 512 who would benefit from the expansion.
Supervisors agreed to look at the issues presented but decided to address each issue independently.
Supervisors also addressed the deterioration of the Debra Court cul-de-sac. There is talk of increasing the number of houses that use the access way. There is some indication that the road is in such poor condition that snow plows are damaging the macadam.
In other business, the Locust Road Jaindl rezoning request is expected to be on the agenda for April 11. The rezoning request is of interest because of the other projects in the immediate area.
