Frederick J. Richardson III, 86, of Wescosville, died March 23, 2018. He was the husband of Kathryn S. (Compton) Richardson. They were married for 65 years in January. Born in Mount Rainier, Md., he was a son of the late Mayor Frederick J. Richardson II and the late Wilhelmina M. (Nuthall) Richardson.

He was a member of the first graduating class of DeMatha Catholic High School, Hyattsville, Md.

After serving his country in the Army during the Korean War, he graduated from the University of Maryland in 1968 and retired from the M. W. Wood Co.

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Salisbury Township.

He was an avid golfer and spent his retirement actively involved in all aspects of the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Frederick IV and his wife, Lori, Philip L. and his wife, Cathy; daughters, Karen M. and her husband Stephen Topper, Sharon M. Trupia, Mary K. and her husband Daniel Reigh; brother, John G.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Daniels and Anna Duncan.
