Edward J. “Doc” Dougherty, 73, of Emmaus, died peacefully March 22, 2018, in his residence with his family at his side. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth “Lu” Lee Dougherty. They were married for 36 years. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late James D. and Betty Rose Cuff Dougherty.
He had been employed as a finance/insurance manager for PNC Bank, Northampton, until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.
He was a graduate of Allentown College, now DeSales University, where he served as a board member for over 20 years, a life member of Greenleaf Lodge F&AM #0561, a 32nd degree member of Northern Masonic Lodge, Allentown and was a past exalted ruler of Mahanoy City Elks Lodge #695.
He is survived by a son Edward “Ted” and his wife Meredith, of Fountain Hill; daughter, Kelly and her husband Bill Worley, of Emmaus; five grandchildren, Emily, Delaney, Avery, Finn and Elliot. He was predeceased by a brother, John “Jay.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. April 7 in St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.
Arrangements were made by the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville.
