Mary E. Thiel, 100, of Allentown, died March 21, 2018. She was the wife of the late Paul L. Thiel. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Irene (Paul) Eddinger.

She was a graduate of Liberty High School and attended St. Luke’s Nursing School, graduating in 1941.

She worked for St. Luke’s Hospital for many years and also Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center until her retirement.

She was a lifelong member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity where she also volunteered at their thrift store.

This past November she had a celebration of her life with family and extended family celebrating her 100th birthday.

She is survived by children, Margaret “Peggy” Risser, Thomas and his wife Joy; grandchildren, Lauri and husband James Johnson, Matthew and his wife Laurie Risser, Emily and James; great-grandchildren, Jami Johnson, Liese Johnson, Noah Risser and Quinn Risser; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings Doris, Jenny, Alvin Eddinger and Sarah Eddinger.

Contributions may be made to the church or to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice.

A service will be held 11 a.m. March 28 at The Cathedral Church of the Nativity, 321 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem, 18015.
