Diane A. Keister, Ed.D., 71, of Lower Macungie Township, died March 21, 2018, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Irvin E. Keister. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Janice (Weibley) and Harry Alleman.

She was a graduate of Gettysburg College, Kutztown University and Lehigh University with a doctorate in education.

She was a teacher, elementary school principal and the director of curriculum at Southern Lehigh School District.

She was an active member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, where she served as the director of the nursery school and the Word for God’s Children program, as well as a member of the Stephen Ministry program. She was a member of the Association of Supervisory and Curriculum Development.

She loved working with children and helping them to grow. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, reading and crafting.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Denel and her husband Gary Bingel, of Bridgewater, N.J.; son, Drew and his wife Mary, of Fogelsville; brother, Harry Alleman III and his wife Judi, of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Rowen, Lindy, Alina and Eden.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. March 29 in The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus, 18049. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
