Shannon L. Wanko, 46, of Breinigsville, died March 12, 2018, at home in the presence of her loving family. She was the wife of William “Pete” Wanko. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary May 8. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Stanley K. and Carol E. (Moyer) Smith Sr.
She graduated summa cum laude from Kutztown University in 1992 with a bachelor of arts in education.
She was a mentor to many and a devoted first grade teacher for 22 years at Sheckler Elementary School, Catasauqua.
Active in the community, she was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, Alburtis, where she worshiped and volunteered her entire life.
She was an active volunteer to the Wheels of Time Street Rod Association.
She is survived by her husband; parents; son, Jakob; daughter, Hannah; brother, Stanley K. Smith Jr. and his wife, Stephanie; sister, Stacey L. and her husband Kevin Brennan; nieces and nephews.
