Shannon L. Wanko, 46, of Breinigsville, died March 12, 2018, at home in the presence of her loving family.
Wife, mother of twins and mentor to many, she was a devoted first-grade teacher for 22 years at Sheckler Elementary School, Catasauqua.
Active in the community, she was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, Alburtis, where she worshipped and volunteered her entire life.
She was also an active volunteer with the Wheels of Time Street Rod Association.
The wife of William “Pete” Wanko, the couple would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on May 8.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Stanley K. and Carol E. (Moyer) Smith Sr.
She graduated summa cum laude from Kutztown University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Jakob; daughter Hannah; brother Stanley K. Smith Jr. and his wife, Stephanie; sister Stacey L. Brennan and her husband, Kevin; nieces and nephews.
