The annual borough Easter egg hunt will be held 11 a.m. March 24 at Municipal Park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue, according to Councilman Tony Pristash, building, land and recreation chair.
The rain date will be 1 p.m. March 25.
Pristash also reported a Spring Fling dance for fourth- and fifth-grade students is planned for 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 14 at the recreation center. This will be the last borough-sponsored dance of the season, he said.
Council voted to approve a Northampton Quota Club request to use Canal Park and the pavilion for its annual yard sale June 9. The council granted the waiving of a rental fee for the event.
The dates for the 2018 Community Days event were set by a council vote. The event, sponsored by Northampton Exchange Club, will be at Municipal Park July 11-14, concluding with fireworks. July 15 is reserved as a rain date.
Also on the calendar is the Jack Frost Parade, set for Oct. 18, with a rain date of Oct. 25. Borough Manager LeRoy Brobst reported that parade coordinator Ralston Coleman has said the parade will begin 7 p.m. and will follow the same route as previous years.
This will be the 70th annual parade.
Because Oct. 18 would normally be a council meeting date, the council voted to hold the meeting Oct. 17 instead.
Also approved was a plan to host a car show and craft fair 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 27 at Canal Street Park. Requesting approval were Paul and Jody Sain-Mellner, event organizers, who said they will donate the proceeds to Mission 22 and Blue Star Mothers Lehigh Valley Chapter 201.
Councilman Kenneth Hall mentioned a food bank walkathon is planned for the same day. Brobst said he would discuss coordination of the two events with the walkathon planners.
