LaVonne E. Gingerich, 92, of Allentown, died March 11, 2018, at home. Born Dec. 18, 1925, in Kenneth, Minn., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Hilda (Hoveland) Watts.

Her husband of 51 years, Bernard A. Gingerich, died in 2001.

A devoted wife, mother and volunteer, she volunteered in the sewing room at the Good Shepherd Home for 26 years and received the annual Human Relations Award in 1982 for her inspiration and service.

In 1989, she received the Good Shepherd Raker Memorial Award and, in 1997, the Lehigh County Senior Citizens Outstanding Volunteer Award.

She was a member of Orefield/Parkland Area AARP Chapter 4788, and of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, where she was involved in the Piecemakers, making lap robes for the elderly.

Her survivors include sons Ron Bay and wife, Jean, and Scott; daughters Kathi Carney and Deborah Gingerich; sisters Ramona and Connie, wife of Gary Heldt; brother Ralph Watts; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Ricky Lee, and sisters Ruby and Peggy.

Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. March 16 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
