Elsie V. Peters, 90, of Whitehall Manor, formerly of Slatington, died March 4, 2018, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

She was the wife of the late George V. Peters.

Born March 28, 1927, in Lehigh Township, she was the daughter of the late Elwood C. and Emma M.A. (Ringer) Peters.

She was a floor worker in the receiving and marking department of the former Hess’s Department Store Warehouse, Whitehall, for 10 years before retiring in 1989.

Active in the life of her church and community, she was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Laurys Station, formerly singing with the choir, serving on various committees and as a Keenagers member.

She also sang with the Zion Choral Society for many years, was a member of the Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter 235, Catasauqua, and 18-year volunteer at Phoebe Home, Allentown.

Her survivors include children Barry G. Peters and his wife, Joanne, of Endicott, N.Y., Bonnie K. Magliane and her husband, Gregory. of Allentown; sisters-in-law Helen Peters of New York, Adele Kunkle of New Jersey: six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. March 8 at St. John’s UCC, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, with the Rev. Dr. James T. Gottwald officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9-11 a.m. Thursday in the church narthex.

Eastern Star service 8:45 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery.
