Moore Township supervisors approve new truck purchase

In a 3-0 vote, Moore Township Board of Supervisors agreed at the Feb. 6 meeting to purchase a 2018 GMC 3500 utility body pickup truck. The truck is a 4x4 with an electric lift gate. The cost, which is budgeted, is about $50,000.

Police Chief Gary West reported 297 incidents in January. There was one arrest for marijuana possession, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

The fire department reported there were 535 total calls for 2017. During January 2018, there were 35 fire calls.

Supervisors approved the ordinance defining the duties of a township manager. Supervisor Richard Gable currently occupies a full-time paid role as secretary/treasurer. His appointment expires Dec. 31, 2018. He is not precluded from applying for the manager position.

The ordinance to merge the environmental advisory board and land preservation board was presented by Solicitor David Backenstoe. The merged boards will be called the Moore Township Land and Environmental Protection and Acquisition Board. It is expected nine residents will staff the board.

The land preservation committee reported it received three applications to preserve additional open space.

The recreation commission and the historical commission met in January to reorganize.

The next township supervisors meeting is 7 p.m. March 6 at the Moore Township Municipal Building, 2491 Community Drive.
