Alyce Elizabeth Tokus
Alyce Elizabeth Tokus, 103, of Allentown, formerly of Schnecksville, died Jan. 29, 2018, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.
She was the wife of the late Leonard A. Tokus Sr.
Born Dec. 6, 1914, in Ardmore, Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Alberta (Burrows) Weldon.
A management analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense, U.A.A. Electronic Command, Philadelphia, for 20 years, she retired in 1971.
She was the oldest member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Her greatest passion was volunteering several days a week at Phoebe Home for more than 20 years.
She always said, “I like to help the old people!”
In that role, she made friendships with people of all ages, which served her well in living a life in her later years that was vibrant and lively.
She loved concerts and theater, eating out at nice restaurants (especially dessert), and doing her daily crossword puzzles.
Her energy and positive outlook were only trumped by her kindness, generosity and loving nature.
Her survivors include a step-grandson Brian Tokus of Orlando, Fla.
She was predeceased by her stepson Leonard A. Tokus Jr.; step-daughter-in-law Eileen Tokus; and step-grandson Michael Tokus.
Her memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating.
There will be no calling hour. A private interment will take place Feb. 12 at Jordan UCC Cemetery.
