Arthur O. Erland

Arthur O. Erland, 99, formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., died Jan. 26, 2018, in Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall.

He was the husband of the late Elsie M. (Berg) Erland.

Born Sept. 8, 1918, on Staten Island, Richmond County, N.Y., he was the son of the late Thomas and Henny (Torgersen) Erland.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic in Europe during World War II.

His artillery unit was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.

An electrician for Con Edison, New York City for 35 years, he retired in 1980.

A faithful servant in New York and New Jersey churches as an elder, Sunday School superintendent, choir member, and accordion player for 50 years, he most recently attended Calvary Baptist Church, Easton, and Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, Bethlehem.

His survivors include a son Robert A. Erland and his wife, Chris, of Bethlehem; daughter Pearl J., wife of Frank Carlo, of Staten Island; daughter-in-law Gala Erland of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister Pearl, wife of the Rev. Kenneth Luff, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth C.
