Student-athletes are honored

Lebanon Valley College, Annville, recently recognized student-athletes who competed for the Flying Dutchmen fall athletic teams.

Local students who were recognized include:

Allentown: Palmer Kerch, Bachelor of Science in exercise science and Nicholas Suriel, Bachelor of Science in actuarial science, both Parkland High School graduates and played on the football team.

Lebanon Valley finished the season 5-5 overall, including a 5-4 mark in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.

The highlight of the season came when the Flying Dutchmen ended a three-game losing skid to Stevenson when LVC defeated the Mustangs in front of a packed house on Homecoming Weekend.

Jessica Hamati-Attieh, a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in exercise science and played on the volleyball team.

LVC put together another winning season thanks to 16 victories on the year.

The Flying Dutchmen clinched a postseason berth in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament and Jess Attieh earned All-America honorable mention honors after a stellar junior campaign.

Orefield: Jenna Lysakowski, Parkland High School graduate, Bachelor of Science in exercise science and played on the field hockey team.

The Flying Dutchmen won six games this season, with the highlight coming in a 2-1 double overtime victory over FDU-Florham at Arnold Field in mid-October.

Five players picked up MAC Commonwealth All-Conference honors for their efforts.
