LHS tops the K-Kids
With their boys’ swim team intact, the Liberty Hurricanes scored a 93-65 victory over Northampton on Jan. 11.
Robert Negron and Jake Evert returned to the pool after missing one or more meets due to illness, and both were double individual event winners in the win over the Konkrete Kids.
Negron took first place in the 50 free with a time of 21.44, and the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.87.
Evert took first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.14, and the 100 free with a time of 48.62.
Teammate Jase Smith won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.75.
The Hurricane boys also placed first in the 200 medley relay with a combination of Smith, Yousef Ismail, Omar Mohammed, and Negron in 1:47.15, and in the 200 free relay with Smith, Jareb Keyock, Chris Chambers, and Evert in 1:34.33.
Liberty’s girls’ swim team also defeated Northampton, 100-77.
Sabrina Krotzer, Natalie Richardson, Kay Wetmore, and Kendra Smith opened the meet with a 1:58.60 victory in the 200 medley relay.
In individual events, Anna Lehr won the 200 free in 2:04.32, Smith placed first in the 50 free in 26.32, and Samantha Taylor tied for first with Northampton’s Sarah Hosking in the 200 IM in 2:17.41.
Wetmore took first place in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.23, and in the 500 free in 5:31.68.
A 1-2-3 finish for the Hurricanes in the 500 free included Maddy Drager, who came in second, and Theresa Cazzarubias who was third.
Cara Kuykens placed first in diving with a score of 180.25, and Lehanna Sine placed second with a score of 160.10.
In the 200 free relay, Smith, Krotzer, Richardson, and Abby Mack took first place with a time of 1:46.30.
