PHS swimmers sweep ACC

The Parkland swimming and diving team beat Central Catholic Monday on both sides of a dual meet. The Trojans boys won 121-64, while Parkland’s girls team beat the Vikettes 133.5-51.5.

Parkland’s divers, who took the top three places in both boys and girls against Central, also competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference midseason meet over the weekend with stellar results.

Parkland girls divers took the top four places at the midseason meet, with Lexi Lehman earning first place at 461.8. Teammates Alexa Brinker (459.3), Kate Gottwald (440.2) and Kaitlyn Smykowski (403.1) followed behind Lehman.

In boys diving, Parkland Logan Choma got second place with 478.2. Emmaus’ Brendan McCourt won the event with a score of 490.6. Parkland’s Kole Cannon (415.8) finished fourth, while teammate Devin Cahill (336.55) placed eighth at the competition.

In Monday’s dual meet, Courtney Sicinski (200 free, butterfly) and Ally Lin (500 free, breaststroke) both won two individual events, while teammates Brinker (diving), Abigail Sheridan (100 free) and Megan Sicinski (backstroke) won one individual event each.

The Trojans swept the girls relays against Central. The foursome of Grace Kennedy, Caroline Fahrney, Annie Walls and Laurel Krause teamed up to win the medley relay. The foursome of Lin, Devon Corvaia, Kennedy and Olivia Stevenson won the 200 freestyle relay, while Walls, Krause, Fahrney and Lin took first place in the 400 freestyle relay.

In boys events, James Zhang (200 free, breaststroke) won a pair of individual events, while teammates James Connolly (50 free), Cannon (diving), Matthew Ceh (IM), Adam Kucharczuk (500 free) and Gavin Webb (backstroke) won one event each.

The Trojan boys also won two of the three relays against the Vikings. Webb, Connolly, Ceh and Shawn Kushner combined to take first place in the medley relay, while Kucharczuk, Connolly, Zhang and Ceh won the 400 freestyle relay.
