Marian Mei-Ying Lu
Marian Mei-Ying Lu, 76, of Orefield, died Jan. 11, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband Dr. Dominic P. Lu were married 48 years last July 26.
Born Jan. 30, 1941, in Taiwan, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Pang-Sing Hsu and Ren-May (Chu) Hsu.
She earned a Master of Science degree in library science from The Catholic University of America and was a college librarian at Quincy College in Quincy, Ill., and a public librarian in Indianapolis, Ind.
She was also a medical librarian at Catholic Medical Center at St. Mary’s Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. before becoming the office manager of her husband’s dental practice in New Tripoli and Orefield.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.
Her interests were listening to classical music, and she enjoyed singing, traveling and beautiful gardens.
She devoted herself to raising her three children and to her extended family throughout the world.
She was the fifth of six children of Dr. (Pang-Sing) Hsu, a prominent surgeon and philanthropist in Taiwan.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by children Aria Lu of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Emily Lu of Falls Church, Va., Winston Lu of El Paso, Texas; sister Faye Fang of Taiwan; brother Dr. Yu-to Hsu of Houston, Texas; and grandchildren Brandyn Lu and Kara Downs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.
Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church.
Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville.
