John Martin Pergosky III, 54, of New Tripoli, died Jan. 1, 2018.
A graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School and Penn State University, he was actively involved in the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau for 10 years, during which time he was spokesman for the 15th Congressional District National Legislative Committee, and president of the Pennsylvania Forage and Grassland Council.
A state winner of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Discussion Meet, he was a first place winner of PFB State Young Farmer and Rancher of the Year.
He was also a National Hay Association member.
He was happiest when he was farming, and loved being the engineer of a 15-inch gauge live steam engine.
He always had a captivating and interesting story to tell.
His survivors include the mother of his children, Ann Marie (Levitsky) Pergosky; sons John, Nicholas and Jacob; daughter Roseanna; parents, John M. Jr. and Mildred (Stalgaitis) Pergosky; brother Matthew and wife, Michele (Rehrig); nephew Luke Pergosky; and niece Gabriele Badesso.
