John L. Shay

John L. Shay, 86, of Lynnport, formerly of Quentin, died Jan. 5, 2018, in The Lutheran Home at Topton.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Madlyn J. (Leibig) Shay.

Born in Lebanon, he was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School.

A printer at the Lebanon Daily News, after retirement from there, he worked part time at the Lebanon County Courthouse and at Manheim Auto Auction.

A faithful member of Quentin United Church of Christ, he served several terms there as an elder, and sang tenor with the church choir.

He was proud to be a U.S. Marine who served during the time of the Korean Conflict. (Semper Fi)

His survivors include a son, the Rev. Scott L. Shay and wife, Donna, of Lynnport; daughter Jane L. (Shay) Adams and husband, Ron, of Summerville, S.C.; granddaughter Rebecca, wife of Jason Williams; great-grandchildren Noah, John and Anneliese, all of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson Scott Matthew Shay of Lynnport; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Feb. 16 at Quentin UCC, 11E. Main St., Quentin.

Calling hour at 10 a.m. and memorial service at 11 a.m.

These will be followed by a luncheon in the church.
