Carson Frey
Carson Frey, 75, died peacefully Jan. 11, 2018.
He and his wife Jane (Harpel) celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in June 2017.
Born in Germansville, he was a son of the late Floyd and Helen (Wagaman) Frey.
A 1959 graduate of Northwestern High School, he worked at Mack Trucks Inc. for 40 years beginning as a mechanic, specializing in fire trucks.
Before retirement, he was a service engineer working at its headquarters.
Before Mack, he was employed at Strohl Chevrolet.
His passions in life were his family, his motorcycle and his musical instruments.
His love of music and desire to keep the Pennsylvania Dutch dialect alive led him to be involved in the Wieand Folklore group, the Cetronia Minstrel Group, as well as the Grundsow Saukraut Buvas.
Most recently, he traveled with “Jack and Friends” entertaining with his guitar.
He was also very active with Grundsow Lodge 16, serving as Haubtmon for three years. During this time, he was responsible for having a Groundhog service at Wehr’s Dam, South Whitehall.
He was always an active member of his church starting at Ebenezer in his youth, St. John’s UCC, Fogelsville, and lastly, New Life Evangelical Lutheran, New Tripoli.
He sang with the choirs, taught Sunday School and served on the consistory.
He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Rodney and wife, Cheri, of Argentina, Robin and husband, Robert Blocker, of Walnutport, Anthony of Mississippi, Rory and wife, Jana, of Germansville; grandchildren Steven, Jeremy and Aaron Frey, Courtney and Rebecca Blocker, Gabrielle, Isaac and Zachary Frey, Alexis and Alea Frey, Andrian and Andrew Davis; two great-grandchildren; brother Wayne and wife, Ruth Frey, of Germansville; sisters Ruth and husband, Bill Kadoich, of Arizona, Rachel Yeahl of Macungie, Marie Feinour of Fogelsville, and Ethel Lavenburg and companion Jerry Deutsch of Coplay.
His services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 20 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 7293 Decatur St., New Tripoli, with the Rev. Kevin E. Fruchtl officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Interment at Ebenezer Cemetery.
