Ruth A. Ehrig, 78, of Emmaus, died peacefully Jan. 3, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Health Network Hospice. She was the wife of the late Dr. Philip L. Ehrig Sr. Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Charles “Sam” and Dorothy “Tilly” Ghares.

She graduated valedictorian of her high school class and attended Pottsville School of Nursing.

She was a charter member of the Dual Valley Recreation Association.

She loved playing cards, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and reading.

She volunteered for many years at the Emmaus Public Library.

She is survived by sons, Dr. Philip L. and his wife Catherine, Charles, Dr. Michael and his wife Dr. Susan Tallick, Robert and his wife Jennifer; daughter, Nora; grandchildren, Philip, John, Colleen, Peter, Molly, Bridget, Tait, McKenna and Kelly.
