It was announced at the Moore Township Supervisors December meeting that a main goal of the Moore Township Historical Commission is officially nearing completion.

The application for the Edelman School to be included on the historical registry has been submitted. It is expected Moore will learn if the application is successful sometime in early 2018. If successful, a celebration is planned.

For the month of December, Moore Township Police Department reported four arrests including one aggravated assault, one possession of narcotics, one prowling charge and one non-traffic violation. The police department logged 379 incidents during December. The fire department responded to 58 calls in December.

The recreation commission is requesting supervisors purchase a tractor with a backhoe. The price was not disclosed. It is expected the board will act on the request next month. Recreation is planning a busy 2018 with various tournaments, community events and increased utilization of the disc golf course.

In his solicitor’s report, Attorney David Backenstoe placed three resolutions in front of the supervisors called Deeds of Dedication for Buckskin Lane, Foxtail Lane and Bobcat Lane. All three were approved.

The land preservation board announced that the 78-acre Schiavone property was purchased, increasing the already large amount of preserved township farmland. Moore Township is one of the leaders in preserved farmland in Northampton County.

In other matters, the road department is actively picking up leaves and preparing for winter.

The supervisors met Dec. 27, 2017, to finalize the township’s budget and met Jan. 2 for their reorganization meeting.
