Kenneth R. Bloss
Kenneth R. Bloss, 74, from Schnecksville, died on Dec. 28, 2017, in Heather Glen Senior Living, Allentown.
He and his wife Carol A. (Shoemaker) Bloss were married 54 years on July 6, 2017.
Born Feb. 27, 1943, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Joel R. and Helen B. (Rice) Bloss.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era earning rank of lance corporal.
A mechanic for Billig Trucking, Kuhnsville, for 30 years, he retired in 2008.
Before that, he worked for the former Highway Express Trucking Co. and Maislin Trucking.
Since his formal retirement in 2008, he worked part time for Lowe and Moyer Trucking until 2013.
Well-known as “The Chicken Man,” he barbecued thousands of chickens for many nonprofit organizations.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Indianland, Cherryville, formerly serving as a deacon.
Additionally, he was a member of the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, New Tripoli, and the Upper Lehigh Lions Club, Schnecksville, from which he recently received the International President’s Award.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter Cheryl A. Lamm and her husband, David, of Schnecksville; son Keith R. Bloss and his wife, Carol, of Germansville; grandchildren Elizabeth, Devin and Stephen; sisters Betty Laubach of Northampton and Peggy Rocco of Surprise, Ariz.; one nephew; and eight nieces.
