Robert F. Van Duzer Jr.
Robert F. “Bob” Van Duzer Jr. died Dec. 21, 2017, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
He and his wife Mary Alice (Quigney) Van Duzer were married 48 years in August.
Born in Summit, N.J., he was the son of the late Robert F. Sr. and Edith S. (Walters) Van Duzer.
A longtime resident of Allentown, he was originally from Madison, N.J., where he was valedictorian of Madison High School Class of 1958.
He was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1962 and a graduate of Florida State University in 1965.
After serving in the Marine Corps, he moved to New York City where he joined the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse and Company.
He subsequently moved to Miami and joined Coulter Electronics, Hialeah, Fla., as the general accounting manager before joining Burger King Corporation as director of internal auditing.
In 1975, he and his wife moved to her hometown of Allentown to put down roots and start a family.
During a 35-year career as a fast-food franchisee, he opened a video store business and became a certified financial planner and a certified valuation analyst, and, at age 65, he received a Juris Doctorate from Widener School of Law.
He was a paralegal until his death.
Until Parkinson’s disease limited his mobility, he enjoyed playing tennis year-round with his longtime friend and business associate, Bob Rust.
He will be fondly remembered and missed deeply.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Lt. Col. Robert F. III and fiancée Sally Rio and son Mason; daughter Leigh Kathryn Van Duzer and husband, James, and grandson, Arthur Peter Spotto; nieces Kristin, Lisa and Alison; nephews James, Kevin and Bryan; great-nephew Dylan; and great-nieces, Faline and Emily.
He was predeceased by a sister, Vicki.
There will be no services at this time.
