The Emmaus wrestling team opened the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference season last week with a pair of losses.

The Hornets fell to Stroudsburg in the dual-meet season opener and then lost to Bethlehem Catholic the next night.

The defending state champ Golden Hawks beat the Hornets 55-10.

After Joe Barno (285) earned a pin to open the match, Bethleehem Catholic won all but one of the next 13 bouts.

Barno earned a pin over Mike Maldanado in a minute and five seconds. Teammate Gabe Ayala (126) picked up a major decision over Tyler Blatnick, 8-0.
