Pastor Robert M. Daneker Sr., 78, from Allentown, died Nov. 18, 2107, in his home.

He and his wife Barbara A. (Wehr) Daneker celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last June.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Matthew and Mildred (Dunbar) Daneker and the grandson of the late Amos Daneker.

He served Cetronia Evangelical Congregational Church, Bethesda Evangelical Congregational Church, Reedsville, Christ (Boulevard) Evangelical Congregational Church, Allentown, and Lancaster Grace Church, Lancaster.

After this, he was elected district superintendent of the evangelical congregational denomination and oversaw 65 churches in the district.

In 1996 he, his wife, Barbara, and four other couples started a new church - Hope Community in Fogelsville.

He retired in 2008 after serving in the ministry for 50 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Jr. pastor of Horizon Church, Allentown, and his wife Donna; daughter Laurie and her husband, Kenneth Kuhns, of Schnecksville; son, James and his wife, Anita, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 24 in Hope Community Church, 7974 Claussville Road, Fogelsville.

Call 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown, and 9-11 a.m. Friday in the church.

Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
