Norwood B. Steigerwalt

Norwood B. Steigerwalt, 95, of Orefield, died Nov. 3, 2017, in his home.

He was the husband of the late Mildred L. (Oswald) Steigerwalt.

Born April 28, 1922, in West Bowmanstown, Carbon County, he was the son of the late Paul M.R. and Abbie A. (Noll) Steigerwalt.

He faithfully and honorably served his county in the U.S. Army during World War II with a rank of staff sergeant.

A member and past president of the Telephone Pioneers, he was employed in engineering personnel at the former Western Electric, Allentown, for 38 years before retiring in 1985.

A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of Chapman Lodge 637, Catasauqua, and Jordan Martin Lodge 673, Allentown, Lehigh Consistory - Valley of Allentown, and Rajah Shrine, Reading.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Northampton, where he formerly served as the organist and choir director.

His survivors include sons Robert P. and his wife, Jan, of Orefield, Ted D. and his wife, Ann, of Slatington; grandchildren Brad, Kristie, Jason and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Drew and Chloe.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Nov. 9 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Todd D. Fennell officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:45 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Masonic service will be at 10:45 a.m.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
