Walter A. Schrettner, 92 years, 4 months, 1 day; a resident of South Whitehall Township, died peacefully on his 69th wedding anniversary, Oct. 16, 2017, in Whitehall Manor, with his bride, Margaret P. (Dobitsch) Schrettner, by his side.

Born on the family farm in Laurys Station, he was a son of the late Anthony and Stella (Mild) Schrettner.

He was a member of The Cathedral Church of Saint Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

A 1943 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, he was a longtime union ironworker with Local 36.

He enjoyed gardening and was an avid bowler earlier in life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother Helmuth “Helly” Schrettner and his wife Catherine; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his sister Erna Matsco and brothers Tony, Alfred and John Schrettner.

Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
