If you arrived a little late to Al Erdosy Stadium on Oct. 13, you missed a majority of the scoring between Easton and Northampton.
The Red Rovers used a quick-strike offense to take down the K-Kids 42-7. Easton built a 21-0 in just over six minutes and cruised to an East Penn Conference victory.
Easton quarterback Scott Poulson connected with Jake Herres for a 57-yard touchdown on the game’s first play from scrimmage. The duo would link up on a screen pass four minutes later to give the Red Rovers a 14-0 advantage.
The K-Kids dug themselves an early hole and their run-based offense was never able to gain traction. Northampton’s leading receiver Zach Liggitt did not play in the contest.
The K-Kids’ first three possessions resulted in a fumble, a three-and-out, and an interception that was returned for a touchdown. After Easton took a 35-0 lead into halftime, the second half was played under mercy rule timing.
K-Kids quarterback Josh Smith scored on a QB sneak from the one yard-line in the fourth quarter to thwart the shutout. Running backs Hunter Wacik and Aiden Jones combined for over 100 yards, but struggled to gain significant chunks against a stingy Easton defense.
Northampton (2-6) hosts Parkland, on Oct. 20. The Trojans (8-0) have outscored their opponents 286-72 this season.
