Angela Marie (Sgro) Sauerzopf, 85, of Whitehall, died Sept. 29, 2017, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

Born in Sunbury, she was a daughter of the late James Sgro and Eleanor (Christiana) Spiziri.

She was a full-time resident of Whitehall since 1959.

A 1953 graduate of Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse employed at Sacred Heart Hospital.

In addition to nursing and homemaking, she was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church and engaged in various humanitarian organizations, providing assistance to those in need in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Oregon, Florida and the local community.

She is survived by her husband Alfred “Fritz” Sauerzopf; half-sister Theresa James; half-brothers John and Frank Spiziri, and James Sgro; children Maria Byerly of Attleboro, Mass., Betina Cregg and her husband, Robert, of Glenview, Ill., Michael Sauerzopf and his wife, Naomi, of Houston, Texas, and Chris Sauerzopf of Kutztown; grandchildren Garrett Byerly Jr., Christine (Cregg) Koval, Elise and Madalyn Cregg, Nicholas and Elijah Defferari and Samuel Sauerzopf, Anthony and Eric Sauerzopf; and great-grandchildren Ryan and Emily Sauerzopf.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. on Oct. 20 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall.

There will be visitation in the church lobby noon and 12:50 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Elizabeth’s Regional School, 433 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, PA 18052.
