Sterling R. Smith, 60, from Downingtown, died on Sept. 27, 2017.

He was the son of Maralyn D. (Leibensperger) Smith of Folsom, Calif. and the late Ray A. Smith.

He received his Bachelor of science degree from Purdue University, was a mechanical design engineer for several companies over the years and was a member of the American Chemical Society.

He was a member of Ziegels Lutheran Church, Breinigsville.

He most enjoyed his cat, riding his motorcycle on open roads, and was always reading and studying.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister Wendy Blake and husband, Roger, of Folsom, and his niece, Amanda Blake.
