Irene W. Spitko, 100, formerly of Allentown, died Sept. 30, 2017, in Berks Heim Nursing Home, Leesport.

Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late William James and Erma Mae (Erdell) Waters.

Before retiring in 1987, she was a department manager at Zollinger Harned department store for 15 years and Van Scoy Jewelers for seven years.

She was a member of the Newcomers Club and was an avid bridge player and played for seven different clubs.

She was a former member of the former Boulevard E.C. Church, Allentown.

Her survivors include sons Ronald B. and his wife, Diane, of Allentown, Arthur W. of Schnecksville, daughter Diane L. Staniszewski of Leesport; grandchildren Sharon Transue and her husband, Wayne, Connie Spitko and her companion, Scott Duncan, Stacey Reeder and her husband, Dave, Geoffrey Spitko and his wife, Colleen; five great-grandchildren and a sister Wilma J. Scully.

She was predeceased by a grandson Kyle Staniszewski; and brothers James Beatty and Michael Waters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St. Allentown.
