Denis C. Querio

Denis C. Querio, 74, of Allentown, died Sept. 24, 2017, in Hospice House, Bethlehem.

He was the husband of the late Kathleen A. (Macsisak) Querio.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Otto and Margaret (Goldschmidt) Querio.

He attended Central Catholic High School and later Lehigh County Community College, now Lehigh Carbon Community College, for an electronics technology Associate degree and Lafayette College for electrical engineering as well as many company designated special work-related schools.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army, and graduated from the Ordnance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Ala., and served in the Ordnance Corps.

For 40 years, he worked for Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Agere Systems and LSI.

In that capacity, he was part of research and development, worked in the electronic test set-up design group as associate engineer and technician for high speed large computer systems for Western Electric.

He represented the Allentown Eastern Works at the National Electronic Engineering Conference for a specific complicated test system design as chosen by Princeton University.

While working in the AT&T capacity, he worked as a technician in the calibration of high speed large and small electronics systems.

While in the Lucent Technologies sector, he acted as a development engineer in the testing of integrated circuits and electronic components.

A licensed state and federal taxidermist, he had a studio for 20 years and was on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Taxidermist Association.

For more than 20 years, he played a guitar and had a band. In the Allentown area, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troops 6 and 9.

He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was active as a third degree with the Knights of Columbus.

His survivors include sons Kevin S. and his wife, Laura, of Schnecksville, and Kenneth C. and his wife, Melanie, of Kutztown; daughter Kristiana R. of Allentown; sister Donna, wife of Terry Christman of Allentown; grandchildren Elyssia, Justin, Nadia, Veronica and Matthew; and nieces Rachel and Jessica.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown. Calling begins 12:30 p.m. Burial with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery.
