Clement Z. Reed

Clement Z. “Clem” Reed, 94, of Slatington, died Sept. 23, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends.

Born April 3, 1923, in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Samuel and Jennie Reed.

He was the husband of the late Hazel C. (Davies) Reed.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, fighting in Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army and participating in The Battle of the Bulge.

During his time in the Army, he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars.

An active member in the Lehigh Valley Battle of the Bulge Association, he was a speaker in the education program promoting the idea “Freedom is not Free.”

An investment broker for 65 years, he was also a real estate investor and developer.

He attended Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville.

A member of the Ontelaunee Car Club, Antique Automobile Club of America, he was a charter member of the Palmerton Exchange Club.

He was on the Slatington Zoning Board for 16 years.

He will be truly missed by all his family and friends.

His survivors include a son Bryon C. Reed and his fiancée, Michelle E. Bredbenner, of Slatington; and loving family member Lisa M. and her husband, Mark A. Weller, of Coplay.

Family and friends are invited to call 10-11 a.m. September 28, 2017 at his Church, 675 Blue Mountain Drive, Cherryville followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Fairview Cemetery, Slatington. Military Honors will be accorded by the Slatington American Legion. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at: www.heintzelmancares.com.
